Office Strip Out at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh by Brown Demolitions Ltd

This office strip-out is the lastet strip-out project in the Edinburgh area by Brown Demolitions. Working on behalf of Morris and Spottiswood we recently completed the strip out of offices at Queen Margaret University.

As always careful consideration was given to the recycling and reuse of all waste materials, big thanks to our waste partners The Milliken Carpet Take Back Program, William Waugh (Edinburgh) Limited, and Waste Cloud Ltd.

Scope of works:

  • Carpet Tiles: Set aside for reuse, ensuring sustainability and cost-efficiency for future projects. On this project the carpet tiles were recycled by The Milliken Carpet Take Back program which provides a non-landfill disposal solution and ensures that used carpet is recovered and managed in the most environmentally, socially and financially responsible way.
  • Forming Window Opening: Created a new window opening to facilitate the installation of a new entrance door, enhancing accessibility and functionality of the space.
  • Suspended Plasterboard Ceiling: Fully removed to prepare for new design and installations.
  • Suspended Tiles and Lights: Taken down to make way for modern lighting solutions and ceiling designs.
  • Large Hanging Metal Lights: Carefully dismantled and removed to clear the space for new lighting fixtures.
  • Partition Walls: Demolished to open up the area, allowing for a more flexible and open-plan environment.
  • Acoustic Wall Panels: Removed to update the acoustic design according to the new space requirements.​
  • Summary: The strip-out works at Queen Margaret University, completed for Morris and Spottiswood, have been successfully executed. The working area, designated as "Future Spaces," has been cleared of specified items, including carpet tiles, ceiling components, lighting, and partitions. These efforts have paved the way for the next phase of development, ensuring a fresh start for new installations and designs.
